Educational Administration

The Daegu National University of Education, Educational Administration major opened a doctoral program to cultivate educational leaders who have not only academic competencies in educational administration but also practical competencies required in elementary education. The core objectives of the Doctoral Program in Educational Administration are as follows.
First, the Educational Administration major trains educational leaders who can manage school organizations. To this end, students will have excellent professional knowledge of pedagogy such as educational philosophy, educational psychology, and educational counseling, and will explore applied disciplines such as educational technology and educational evaluation to equip them with practical competence. Educational administration majors will be equipped with leadership capabilities as well as academic competencies by learning theoretical foundations, interdisciplinary knowledge, practical skills, and professional experience to revolutionize education at the national, regional and unit levels.
Second, the Educational Administration major fosters educational leaders who contribute to the development of national education. For the development of national and local education, all educational communities should be able to analyze the characteristics of their local educational environment and suggest alternatives, and this can be said to apply to all teachers belonging to the Education Support Office and the Office of Education. Therefore, the major in educational administration will play a role in nurturing not only current education leaders but also potential future education leaders.

  • Recent and Future Education : It cultivates the qualities and competencies that educational administration experts must have by identifying the latest educational trends abroad and in Korea and seeking directions for development.
  • Values and Education : It focuses on establishing the value of education that educational administrators should have by exploring the relationship between various social values and education, such as value theory, morality and education, aesthetics and education, religion and education.
  • Creativity and Convergence Education : Today, when entry into a hyper-connected society and new value creation are required, the focus is on developing the creative and innovative capabilities that educational administration experts need by discovering theoretical and interdisciplinary approaches to explore future education and dealing with concepts.

  • Introductory of Educational Administration : Learn the basic theory of educational administration and the practice of each sub-area, explore application methods for academic research, and read domestic and international academic research cases.
  • Educational Leadership and School development : By learning basic theories on educational leadership and reading domestic and foreign prior studies, we cultivate basic knowledge of educational leadership and educational leadership research capabilities.
  • Inquiry and Analysis of Educational Administration : It explores its areas, such as the concept of educational administration, historical changes, and related laws and designs future research directions.
  • Seminar Ⅰ Educational Administration : It outlines the research trends of educational administration academia in the past and present, and cultivates the ability to analyze current issues from the perspective of problems, improvement plans, and future educational administration.
  • Personnel Administration in Education : By learning the concepts and principles of personnel administration in the public sector and exploring the current domestic and international teacher personnel system, research capabilities are cultivated to suggest the direction of rational educational personnel administration.
  • Seminar Ⅱ Educational Administration : It will provide an overview of the recent research trends of the educational administration academia and cultivate the ability to understand and analyze current educational administration issues from a future-oriented perspective based on a general understanding of educational administration.

Jung, Sung-soo
  • Educational Policy Analysis : By learning various scholars and theories related to policy evaluation and applying them to and analyzing them in Korea's education policy, the ability to propose directions for improvement in education policy is cultivated.
  • Organizational Behavior in Education : Cultivate the ability to understand and analyze the actions of various interest-related parties (teachers, students, parents, etc.) that make up the educational organization.
  • Comparative Education : It cultivates comparative educational competencies that educational administration experts must have by identifying educational reform and educational policy trends in advanced foreign countries and various countries, and seeking implications for education in Korea.
  • Education Law : By understanding and analyzing various education-related laws (Constitution, Framework Act on Education, Elementary and Secondary Education Act, etc.), and examining various precedents, the educational legal competency that education administration experts must have is cultivated.
  • Training and Professional Development in Education : The direction and capabilities of future-oriented teacher professional development will be cultivated by seeking actual improvement directions for teacher professional development based on theories on scholarship, training, and evaluation, which are in charge of teacher professional development.
  • School Consulting : By analyzing various cases of actual school consulting based on an understanding of the concepts and principles of school consulting that emerged as a new approach to scholarship, school consulting-related competencies are cultivated.

Lim, Ji-eun
  • Education and Administration of Digital Era : It explores the impact of cutting-edge technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing, and learning analytics on the educational environment and administrative management and the direction of innovation. In addition, by examining various concrete measures to improve school and class management, teaching and learning design and management, and administrative efficiency in the digital age, and discussing ethical and legal issues, we intend to cultivate the correct realization and capacity of policies for future education.
  • Development of Human Resourc : It aims to understand the concepts and key theories of human resource development and to learn strategies and methodologies for organizational development, personal development, and career development. In addition, reflecting the characteristics of various sites, measures for demand analysis and performance analysis, program design, execution, and evaluation for human resource development are sought.

  • Quantitative Research in Educational Administration : To explore educational phenomena quantitatively, research capabilities to perform statistical hypothesis verification and empirical data analysis are cultivated based on clear operational definitions of concepts and measurements that secure reliability and validity.
  • Qualitative Research in Educational Administration : By using various qualitative research techniques such as participatory observation, interviews, and document analysis, the research capability to explore the context and meaning of the educational field in depth and to understand complex educational phenomena analytically is cultivated.
  • Mixed Research in Educational Administration : Based on an understanding of mixed research methodologies that complement and integrate the advantages and disadvantages of quantitative and qualitative research methodologies, research capabilities to design and analyze actual cases in the educational field are cultivated.
