Practical Arts Education

The Practical Arts Education major aims to cultivate professionals equipped to contribute to the advancement of education and research in the field of Practical Arts. The program enhances academic understanding across various areas—including home economics, clothing and textiles, food and nutrition, family resource management, agricultural life science, industrial technology, career education, and environmental studies—while strengthening students’ teaching and research competencies in Practical Arts Education.

Jung, Jin-hyun
  • Advanced Technology Education : In order to understand the academic background of technological field in practical arts education and apply it to real life, reasonable research methods and research skills, including theoretical knowledge and problem approach, are cultivated throughout technology.
  • Invention & Intellectual Property Education : It is to exploremethods and procedures for acquiring the thinking techniques necessary to creative invention ideas, for acquiring theoretical knowledge and applying it to inventing it.
  • AI & Robot Education : It provides basic academic knowledge and practice on AI and robots, and cultivates research skills in AI and robot education by understanding engineering technology using AI and robots and learning AI and robot utilization education by convergence with other subjects.

  • Advanced Research Mothodelogy for Practical Arts Education : Students will learn multiple analysis method, mutiple research design, and implementation methods above a certain level, will be equipped skill to review the related literature, and develop the ability to conduct actual research based on this knowledge.
  • Theories and Practice in Career Counseling : Based on the techniques and understanding of career counseling, students will learn how to establish and operate a school career counseling system and cultivate the ability to effectively provide personalized customized career counseling to students.
  • Advanced Studies on Practical Arts Education : Students will understand the history, academic characteristics, purpose, content, teaching and learning methods, evaluation, research, and administration of elementary and secondary practical arts education, and develop the ability to develop and apply content and methods that can be appropriately applied in school settings.

  • Advenced Theories in Clothing & Textiles Education : This course explores the purpose and educational content of clothing & textiles education, analyzes strategies and teaching methods for clothing & textiles education tailored to various ages and target groups, and strengthens the ability to apply them in the field through practical exercises and case studies.
  • Maker Education in Clothing & Textiles : This course explores how to apply the concepts and principles of maker education to clothing & textiles education. Through creative problem-solving and practice-oriented learning, it cultivates the ability to design and implement various production activities related to clothing & textiles. This fosters professional competence to approach clothing & textiles education in a more creative and practical way.
  • Studies in Sustainable Clothing & Textiles : This course explores the concepts and principles of sustainable clothing & textiles and studies practical ways to practice clothing & textiles considering the environment, health, and safety. It analyzes the relationship between climate change and clothing & textiles from various perspectives and seeks eco-friendly clothing & textiles policy approaches. In addition, it develops educational programs for sustainable clothing & textiles and studies actual application cases to strengthen practical competency.

  • Design Thinking & Practice : Design thinking is a creative problem-solving method for problem solving and innovation, and is an education that produces creative and effective solutions in various fields such as economy, industry, stocks, design, and education.The entire design process is recognized as one large problem to be solved, and the lecture proceeds as a problem-solving procedure and method that solves problems according to the five design thinking processes of empathy, problem definition, idea, prototype, and test.
